![]() ![]() He made us feel so welcome and wanted to make sure our night was memorable. who was just as fantastic as everyone else we met that night. As we left, we thanked the Head Maitre D- Gordon H. another manager who was also so helpful and friendly. The smell of the food cooking was enticing as we came in as well. The dimly lit dining room yet was welcoming. The people watching is like being in Los Angeles. She is beautiful like everyone else that was working there and dining there. She is going to be opening an AZ location soon so I can’t wait to go see her there. manager who is fabulous and was so kind. I asked to speak to the manager to let them know how awesome he was. If I owned a restaurant, he would be the face and the head server if it. His personality lights up the entire dining room. Spencer, we learned had moved recently to Chicago and he is a keeper. They gave us a menu welcoming us to Chicago as a souvenir. It was chocolate globe that they melted in front of you and filled with bananas and cream. The dessert presentation was a showstopper. The whipped and buttered potatoes were mouthwatering. It also came with the signature beefed up butter. I got the foie gras which was served chilled. ![]() The salad course came next which was not on the menu. I got the scotchy scotchy cocktail next which was right up my alley. Following that came the lemon pasta in the tower. They added this chili oil which was so flavorful. Then our seafood tower came out with shrimp, king crab legs, oysters that were grilled and clams. We began taking vodka with caviar shots -soooo good. Then, we took a shot to start the meal which was also compliments of the house. We started like everyone else with their radishes and carrot bites. They pick what you eat and will work with you for any allergies etc. It would have been twice as much in DC for a 5 course meal. ![]() If you do that, every one at the table must participate. We were looking at the menu and decided with the nonpushy and fabulous help of Spencer to get the I Don’t Give a meals. My boyfriend got Spanish Secrets which was also great. I got the Maple and Ash Old Fashioned-delicious. He gave us time to order our drinks and look at the menu. We hit the jackpot when we were seated in Spencer’s section. Thank you again, Gray Hotel! We arrived via Uber at 6 pm. We had to switch nights and the hotel staff did that flawlessly. We were staying at the Gray Hotel and Bobby, our concierge got us a coveted reservation. Hands down one of the top meals I have ever had. The check came to, with tip to $ 333.00 and like I said we have had better food, although not was trendy, elsewhere. Unlike us, the crowd was young (mid thirties) and acted accordingly. The food was more than reasonable but I have had better food in town at far less money. The service at the table was outstanding but the rest was ok. We brought our own wine (a 1996 Insignia) and paid the $ 50.00 corkage. We both ordered the bone-in Rib steak and we shared the coconut cream pie. My wife had the tuna tartar and I had the meatballs. (In fact she was great through the entire meal). We quickly was greeted by our server with a martini and a very good welcome. It was only a few minutes later when our table cleared and we were seated. After the wait dragged, we were offered and we accepted some sparkling wine. ![]() There we were greeted again and started to wait although we were there on time for our reservation on a night of terrible weather. We were greeted nicely and directed to go to the third floor. When we arrived we immediately realized that trendy was an understatement. We selected Maple and Ash for our Wedding Anniversary. Being new in Chicago my wife and I decided to try one of the City's restaurants with a lot of buzz. ![]()
